Baby Shoes

Thank goodness for other bloggers out there who are willing to share their ideas and tutorials. I was invited to a shower last night and knew I wanted to make some cute red shoes. My only problem was that I had never made baby shoes before and I didn't even know where to begin. Luckily I came across Fleeting Thing.com and spotted her mila baby shoe tutorial. I fell in love with these shoes the minute I saw them. I absolutely loved the little ruffles. It only took me a few hours to get these finished and I love the way they turned out. They were a huge hit at the baby shower too:)

I did change a few things to give it more of a finished look. I covered the elastic with the same fabric I used for the main part of the shoe and I also hide the side seam inside the sole of the shoe instead of using the serger.

Fancy Key

Here is a simple way to add some *BLING* to your key ring without a whole lot of trouble.

It's also a great way to add a little bit of personality to your favorite key.

Start out with a plain and boring key.

Get out your favorite color of swarovski crystals (s20) and your GOOP glue.

Add a little bit of glue to each crystal using a pin.

Place the crystals where you want it on the key and let dry for 4-6 hours.

It doesn't get much easier than that!

"Made by Rae" Hand Purse

What a fun and super cute hand purse!! This purse is great to make if all you have is some fat quarters and a little bit of time. I love the pleating and the small details this purse has to offer. I got the pattern from Made By Rae, HERE. Check out her blog. It's a great place to get inspired! (oh, and this pattern is FREE!!!.... I love that!)

Little Girls Play Kitchen

Well, here it is! The project that has taken me ALL month to make. I'm not kidding.... I started the end of Nov. and finished it one day before Christmas! (I know, I was cutting it close!) :) The minute I found this adorable kitchen on Knock-off wood.com I knew I had to make it for my girls. The only problem... I've never created something out of wood before... ever! Luckily I have a dad who has built a few things before :) So, I recruited his help with buying the wood, cutting the wood and putting it all together. The rest was up to me. I loved the look of the kitchen that was featured on Knock-off wood.com so I used her kitchen as my inspiration. I used Amy Butler Love to make the curtain, hot pad and hand towel. After I had it all painted I sanded and stained the edges to give it more of an antique look and then added the accessories that I bought from IKEA and Hobby Lobby. I had an absolute blast making this. I had a hard time sleeping Christmas Eve because I couldn't wait to see my girls reaction to their new kitchen on Christmas morning. (BTW.... they loved it!)

Giraffe Rattle/ Taggie

My latest creation. Want to make it?!:) Here's the tutorial.

Things you will need:

Scissors

Staight Pins

Scrap fabric for front of giraffe

Fuzzy fabric for back: Chenille, Minky, or any other type of Fuzzy fabric

Stuffing, Rice or Beans

Needle and thread

Assorted ribbon to match front fabric

Sewing Machine and Matching Thread

Rattle/ Jingle Bell (oppional)

Let's begin!! Print off PATTERN. Layout your front fabric face up, pin on pattern and cut. Layout back fabric face down, pin on pattern and cut. Cut out ribbon (4-5 strips about 4 inches), cut a scrap piece for tail (1 1/2 inches wide, 4-5 inches long), cut small piece for bottom of tail out of back fabric.

Fold tail fabric (both sides toward middle), then fold in half and sew down the side for a finished edge.

Pin all of the ribbon and the tail to the front fabric. Loops in, pins out (see picture). Place back fabric on top and pin. Making sure not to catch the tail and ribbon except for sides that need to be. (Does that make sense?)

Sew all around the giraffe with a small seam (1/4" or smaller), leaving an opening on the back to turn inside out. (This space can be on the back or in the inseam of leg, you decide where you want it. If you are adding a rattle your best spot for the hole will be the back). Turn fabric over and make sure seam has caught all of fabric. Clip notches around all the curves (nose, legs, ear, neck, inside legs, etc). Turn inside out and make sure all corners are pulled out and rounded nice and flat. This will help give the giraffe it's cute look:)

Stuff Giraffe with stuffing, beans, rice or anything else you prefer. I like to do a little bit of rice and stuffing together (I like how it makes it feel, soft and squishy). If you are going to add a rattle this is where you will add that in. Sew up opening.

Fold over tail and sew a few stitches (this is optional, I just like the tail hanging down instead of straight out). Sew on the fluffy part of the tail (this can be done with sewing machine or a needle and thread. I used a needle and tread with this one because the fabric is so fluffy).

Now your Giraffe is complete!! Great job!

You can add this to a baby shower gift for that added extra special surprise or keep it for your little one to play with. Hope you ENJOY it!!
